Two women are helping diversify Bay Area street dancing scene

TWO CLASSICALLY trained dancers who met at an audition in 2008, Jenay Anolin and Samara Atkins, have started an all-female, multi-genre, multi-ethnic dance crew called Mix’d Ingrdnts in Oakland, California. This is a direct response to what Jenay describes as the “objectification of women” in most other street and hip hop dance crews, will be performing at the San Francisco International Hip Hop DanceFest from Nov. 20th to 22nd.
