AS PART OF a new award-winning series exploring our perception of color and its use across cultures, one shade at a time called Colorscope, Director of the Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology Valerie Steele weighs in on the color pink. Valerie is also the curator of the museum’s exhibition, Pink: The History of a Punk, Pretty, Powerful Color.
“If you go back to the 18th century, little boys and little girls of the upper classes both wore pink and blue and other colors uniformly,” she said.
