A WOMEN’S MEDIA Center report found the media coverage of U.S. campus rape and sexualized violence is disproportionately skewed to male writers and reporters. The study also found that the gap was even larger when it came to “sports stories referencing sexual assault or in stories written by sports reporters” and that the writer’s gender affected the way rape and sexualized violence stories are told.
